When we talk about international journalism it can be easy to forget that not all reporters have the same rights as the ones that are in the United States. In the U.S., there are constitutional protections such as the First Amendment which gives the press a good amount of independence. However, there are many countries that treat journalism differently. These systems treat information as a privilege instead of a right. To understand the differences, it is necessary to define what legal constraints are and how they relate to international reporting.
